RUN – WEDNESDAY at King James Way Car Park, Royston… This is a coached running session with the aim to improve your 5k-10k performance through interval training. You don’t have to commit to every week and this is for ALL levels of runner. These sessions are hard work but are much more enjoyable when done with others, so why not join in the fun and come along on a Wednesday evening!

You will need to wear a high vis or some sort of reflective clothing.

SWIM – THURSDAY  at McSplash… This is a coached session. You are required to book and pay prior to attending this session and is open to MTC members only. To ensure we are Covid secure and following BTF and SE guidelines the session will have limited spaces.

BIKE – SUNDAY CLUB RIDE:

For most levels: Every Sunday we aim to deliver two rides, one which is at about 13-15mph average and another which is 16-18mph average speed. If you don’t know your current speed then as long as you can ride for about 90 minutes non-stop we can accommodate you on these rides, we promise that you won’t be left behind. Come along and try the steady ride and then we can see which group you are best suited to for the future.

If you arrive on a Sunday and would like to do a different distance or speed to the main rides don’t feel afraid to offer to navigate a ride at your chosen speed/distance.

If you think you can’t ride for that long or as fast as that, do not let that stop you joining us. We also do once-a-month intro rides where we go at your speed and for a shorter distance. So do get in touch and we’ll do all we can to accommodate you.

Do not think that everyone is super speedy – we have athletes of all levels and we all started out as slower inexperienced riders – we are there to support you and help you improve and get faster over a period of time.

NO HELMET, NO RIDE

What kind of bike should you ride? The ideal is to have a road bike (with drop handlebars) but plenty of people start out doing triathlon on hybrid bikes or mountain bikes. If you are thinking about purchasing a new bike we can give you advice on the right type of bike to buy and where to buy it.

What is average speed? The average speed is your speed averaged over a whole ride, so you might do a hilly ride with a flat section at some point, on the hills managing 10mph and on the flats 18mph and downhill 25mph – a bike computer or app on your phone will work it out for you. Check out Strava or Mapmyride.

ADDITIONAL BIKE – MONDAY GROUP RIDE: runs most Mondays (check FB) and usually meet in Melbourn or close by. This ride could be anything: hill reps, chain gang, intervals or just a ride.

Led by Stephen, Claire, Trevor or another experienced club rider.
